This weeks #freebiefriday crochet pattern is the Gingerbread Man (And Girl) Amigurumi pattern! This pattern includes directions (instructions, I don't know which one it is, lol!) for how to make a crochet Gingerbread Man, crochet Gingerbread Woman, as well as the accessories (Gumdrop buttons, scarf, beanie, icing and skirt). Supplies Needed:

-Any #4 Worsted Weight, yarn in  5-6 colors. Less then 300 yards of each. (Examples were made with Red Heart Super Saver in the color Cafe Latte, the color Black, the color Flame and the color Spring Green. Also used were Mainstays Basic Yarn in the color Red and the color White)
-Poly-fil
-Stitch Marker
-Safety Eyes (Size 12 mm or 15 mm)
-Yarn Needle

Pattern Notes:

-This pattern uses US terminology.
-Chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
-Unless otherwise noted, always slip stitch to the first stitch of the round to join.

Abbreviations:

Ch.: Chain
Sl. St.: Slip Stitch
Beg.: Beginning
Sc: Single Crochet
Sc Inc: Single Crochet Increase
Sc Dec: Single Crochet Decrease
St.: Stitch
YO: Yarn Over
Ea: Each
Rep: Repeat
FO: Finish Off
Sk: Skip
Sp: Space
* *: Repeat instructions in * *


Pattern

Arms (Make 2)

Begin with Cafe Latte

Round 1: MR, 6 Sc. (6 sc)
Round 2: Ch 1, Sc Inc in ea st around. (12 sc)
Rounds 3-4: Ch 1, Sc in ea st around. (12 sc)
Round 5: Ch 1, Sc in first st, Sc Dec in next st. *Sc in next st, Sc Dec in next st* around. (8 sc)
Rounds 6-14: Sc in ea st around. (8 sc) 

Stuff hand firmly. Stuff arm lightly. Pinch Sides so you're working your stitches through 2 layers. Sc in ea st. (4 sc) FO. 

Legs (Make 2) FO first leg. Do not FO second leg. 

Round 1: MR. 6 Sc. (6 sc)
Round 2: Ch 1, Sc Inc in ea st around. (12 sc)
Round 3: Ch 1, Sc in first st, Sc Inc in next st. *Sc in next st, Sc Inc in next st* around. (18 sc)
Rounds 4-6: Ch 1, Sc in ea st around. (18 sc)
Round 7: Ch 1, Sc in first st, Sc dec in next st. *Sc in next st, Sc dec in next st* around. (12 sc)
Begin stuffing
Rounds 8-16: Ch 1, Sc in ea st around. (12 sc) 

Main Body

Place legs together

Round 17: Ch 1, Sc in ea of the first 3 st of your working leg (the leg with the yarn still attached). Work 1 sc in ea of the first 12 st on the second leg. Work 1 sc in ea of the next 9 st of your first leg. (24 sc) 

Stuff as you go

Continue here if making Gingerbread Man

Rounds 18-26: Ch 1, Sc in ea st around. (24 sc)

Continue here if making Gingerbread Girl

Rounds 18 and 19: Ch 1, Sc in ea st around. (24 sc)
Round 20: Ch 1, Sc in BLO of ea st around. (24 sc)
Rounds 21-26: Ch 1, Sc in ea st around. (24 sc)

Continue here for both

We will now be attaching the arms

Round 27: Ch 1, Sc in ea of the next 8 st. Holding first arm against body and working through both layers of stitches, Sc in ea of the next 4 st. Sc in ea of the next 8 st. Holding 2nd arm against body and working through both layers of stitches, Sc in ea of the next 4 st. Move stitch marker to last sc worked. (24 sc)
Round 28: Ch 1, Sc Dec in ea st across. (12 sc) 
Round 29: Ch 1, Sc Dec in ea st across. (6 sc)

We are now working on the head

Round 30: Ch 1. Working in this round and the previous round (this might be called an extended single crochet) work 1 Sc Inc in ea st around. (12 sc)
Round 31: Ch 1, Sc in first st, Sc Inc in next st. *Sc in next st, Sc Inc in next st* around. (18 sc) 
Round 32: Ch 1, Sc in ea of the first 2 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 2 st, Sc Inc in next st* around. (24 sc) 
Round 33: Ch 1, Sc in ea of the first 3 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 3 st, Sc Inc in the next st* around. (30 sc)
Round 34: Ch 1, Sc in ea of the first 4 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 4 st, Sc Inc in the next st* around. (36 sc)
Round 35: Ch 1, Sc in ea of the first 5 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 5 st, Sc Inc in the next st* around. (42 sc)
Round 36: ch 1, Sc in ea of the first 6 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 6 st, Sc Inc in the next st* around. (48 sc)
Rounds 37-41: Ch 1, Sc in ea st around. (48 sc)

Round 43: Ch 1, Sc in ea of the first 5 st, Sc Dec in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 5 st, Sc Dec in the next st* around. (36 sc)

Begin stuffing head. Stuff head and neck firmly. 

Round 47: Ch 1, Sc in the next st, Sc Dec in the next st. *Sc in the next st, Sc Dec in the next st* around. (12 sc)
Round 48: Ch 1, Sc Dec in ea st around. (6 sc)

FO, leaving a long tail to sew up opening. 

Cheeks and Gumdrop Buttons

Using red for the cheeks, MR, 6 sc (6 sc)

FO leaving a long tail to sew to face

Using Flame and Spring Green, repeat steps used for the cheeks.

Icing

Ch required amount of stitches needed to fit around ankles. FO leaving a long tail to sew to body. Repeat to make the icing for the wrists and head.

Beanie 
Worked in the round (Do not join rounds and do not ch 1)

Begin with red

Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6 sc)
Round 2: Sc Inc in ea st around. (12 sc)
Round 3: Sc in first st, Sc Inc next st. *Sc in next st, Sc Inc in next st* around. (18 sc)
Round 4: Sc in ea of the first 2 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 2 st, Sc Inc in the next st* around. (24 sc)
Round 5: Sc in ea of the first 3 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 3 st, Sc Inc in the next st* around. (30 sc)
Round 6: Sc in ea of the first 4 st, Sc Inc in the next st. *Sc in ea of the next 4 st, Sc Inc in the next st* around. (36 sc)

Change to white
Rounds 15 and 16: Sc in ea st around. (48 sc)

FO and weave in ends. 

Assemble your Gingerbread Man.

Skirt

Begin with Red

Working in the the front loops of Round 20

Round 1: Ch 2. Dc in the first st, Dc Inc in the next st. *Dc in the next st, Dc Inc in the next st* around. Join.
Round 2:  Ch 2. Dc in ea of the first 2 st, Dc Inc in the next st. *Dc in ea of the next 2 st, Dc Inc in the next st* around. Join.

FO Red and join white

Round 3: Sc in ea st around.

FO and weave in ends.
