Hello again friends! I know, I know, it's Saturday! What happened to #freebiefriday?! My Friday was crazy! First electric outage, had to take birthday cupcakes to one of my twins' class at school, then my car decided to act up! I was surprised it wasn't the 13th! Ha! Anywho, here's this weeks free crochet pattern! It's the Apple Coaster crochet pattern! It's the 3rd installment of the Back To School Series. It can be made using only scraps. Supplies Needed:

-Any #4 worsted weight yarn. Less then120 oz. I used Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red and Paddy Green. I cotton yarn such as Peaches and Cream would also work great. 


Pattern Notes:

-This pattern uses US terminology.
-Chain does not count as a stitch.
-Finished measurement is approximately 5 by 5.5 inches around (not including the leaves).
-This pattern is worked in the round.

Abbreviations:

Ch.: Chain
Ss: Slip Stitch
Beg.: Beginning
Sc: Single Crochet
Sc Inc: Single Crochet Increase (2 sc in same stitch)
Hdc: Half Double Crochet
Dc: Double Crochet
Trb: Treble Crochet (AKA Triple Crochet)
St.: Stitch
YO: Yarn Over
Ea: Each
Rep: Repeat
FO: Finish Off
Sk: skip
* *: Repeat instructions in * *

Gauge:

Approximately 1 inch at the end of round 2.

Pattern


Main Part

Starting with Cherry
Round 1: Ch 2. Sc 6 in 2nd ch from hook. Place stitch marker. (6 sc)
Round 2: Sc Inc in ea st around. Move stitch marker up. (12 sc)
Round 3: *Sc in first st. Sc Inc in next st*. Move stitch marker up. (18 sc)
Round 4: *Sc in first 2 st, Sc Inc in next st*. Move stitch marker up. (24 sc)
Round 5: *Sc in first 3 st, Sc Inc in next st*. Move stitch marker up. (30 sc)
Round 6: *Sc in first 4 st, Sc Inc in next st*. Move stitch marker up. (36 sc) 
Round 7: *Sc in first 5 st, Sc Inc in next st*. Move stitch marker up. (42 sc) 
Round 8: *Sc in first 6 st, Sc Inc in next st*. Move stitch marker up. (48 sc) 
Round 9: *Sc in first 7 st, Sc Inc in next st*. Move stitch marker up. (54 sc) 
Round 10: Ch 3, Trb in first 2 st, Dc in next 2 st, Hdc in next 2 st, Sc in next 19 st, Dc in next 2 st, Sc in next 2 st, Dc in next 2 st, Sc in next 19 st, Hdc in next 2 st, Dc in last 2 st. (2 Trb, 6 Dc, 6 Hdc, 38 sc) 
FO work and weave in ends. 

First Leaf

Change to Green
Ch 7, Sc in 2nd ch from the hook, Hdc in next ch, Dc in next ch, Sc in next ch, Hdc in next ch, Dc in next ch. Turn your work and start working on other side of beginning ch. Dc in first ch, Hdc in next ch, Sc in next ch, Dc in next ch, Hdc in next ch, Sc in last ch. 
FO leaving a long tail for attaching to main piece. 

Second Leaf

Continue working with green
Ch 8, Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next ch, Hdc in next ch, Dc in next 2 ch, Hdc in next ch, Sc in next 2 ch. Turn your work and start working on other side of beginning ch. Sc in first 2 ch, Hdc in next ch, Dc in next 2 ch, Hdc in next ch, Sc in last 2 ch. 
FO leaving a long tail for attaching to main piece. 

On the main piece, the side with the bigger "bumps" is the bottom. Attach the leaves to the top part (side with smaller bumps, see picture) 





Congrats! Your Coaster is now finished!
