Faux Bun Leprechaun Beanie

Supplies Needed:

Worsted Weight #4 yarn- I used Red Heart Super Saver in Patty Green, White, Black, Carrot and Bright Yellow (less than 1 skein of each)
Size 5.00 mm/H Hook
Yarn Needle
Scissors



Gauge:
3 hdc x 2 rows=1 inch

Beg: Beginning
Ch.: Chain
St.: Stitch

Hdc: Half Double Crochet
Dc: Double Crochet
Fhdc: Foundation Half Double Crochet
Hdc Dec: Half Double Crochet Decrease

  2. This pattern is worked from the top down.
  3. Always join to the first stitch unless otherwise noted. 
  4. Chain does not count as a stitch.

Pattern

Starting with green. (All sizes) 
Round 1: Hdc 7 in MR. (7 hdc)
Round 2: *Hdc inc* around. (14 hdc)
Round 3: *Hdc, Hdc inc* around. (21 hdc)
Round 4: *Hdc 2, Hdc inc* around. (28 hdc) Stop here for newborn and continue onto round 10. 
Round 5: *Hdc 3, Hdc inc* around. (35 hdc) Stop here for 0-12 Months and continue onto round 10.
Round 6: *Hdc 4, Hdc inc* around. (42 hdc) Stop here for toddler size and continue onto round 10. 
Round 7: *Hdc 20, Hdc inc* around. (44 hdc) Stop here for child size and continue onto round 10.
Round 8: *Hdc 10, Hdc inc* around. (48 hdc) Stop here for teen size and continue onto round 10. 
Round 9: *Hdc 6, Hdc inc* around. (56 hdc) Adult. 
Round 10 and 11: Hdc around. (28 hdc) (35 hdc) (42 hdc) (44 hdc) (48 hdc) (56 hdc) 
Newborn thru teen size skip ahead to round 14.
Round 12 and 13: (Adult size only.) Hdc around. (56 Hdc) 
With white. (All sizes) 
Round 14: Sc around. (28 hdc) (35 hdc) (42 hdc) (44 hdc) (48 hdc) (56 hdc) 
With black:
Round 15 and 16: Hdc around. (28 hdc) (35 hdc) (42 hdc) (44 hdc) (48 hdc) (56 hdc) 
Newborn through child size skip ahead to round 18. Teen and adult continue below. 
Round 17: Hdc around. (48 hdc) (56 hdc)
With white. All sizes.

With green.

Buckle (For Newborn-Child size)
With Yellow
Ch. 21.
Hdc Inc in 2nd ch from hook. Hdc 2, Hdc Inc, Hdc 6, Hdc Inc, Hdc 2, Hdc Inc, Hdc 6. Join to first stitch. (24 Hdc)


Buckle (For Teen and Adult)
With Yellow
Ch. 29.
Hdc Inc in 2nd ch. from hook. Hdc 4, Hdc Inc, Hdc 8, Hdc Inc, Hdc 4, Hdc Inc, Hdc 8. Join to first stitch. (32 Hdc) FO leaving a long tail. Sew onto middle, front black portion of beanie. 

Curls (Make 3)
Ch. 35.
Hdc 3 in 2nd ch from hook and in ea remaining ch. (102 hdc)
Cross one curl on top of another curl. Repeat with last curl. (see picture)


Cut a length of (carrot) yarn approximately 18 inches long. Using yarn needle, thread yarn through middle of curls, securing all 3 together. Using remaining yarn tail, attach curls to top of beanie. FO. Weave in all ends.

Congrats! Your beanie is now finished!
